HyperPointer
An In-line Vision Solution for Hyperspectral Seal Inspection
HyperPointer® is a vision inspection solution designed for reliable quality control of non-transparent packaging, such as plastic- or paperboard trays, pots, and containers. The vision system uses hyperspectral imaging to reliably detect contamination in the seal area of various types of packaging.
Standard vision inspection systems have limitations when detecting contamination in package seals. The standard systems particularly struggle when the packaging film lacks transparency or when there is insufficient contrast between the contaminant and the film material.
HyperPointer® ensures product quality in cases where standard vision systems fall short, because of its ability to inspect packaging regardless of the material, layout, or size.

How it works
A Vision Inspection Solution with a Much Wider Range
Hyperspectral vision technology offers a significant advantage over standard vision systems by capturing data across an expanded range of the electromagnetic spectrum, including infrared wavelengths.
The advanced cameras are able to inspect through thin plastic films, even when the product already has prints. The key benefit of hyperspectral cameras is that compared to conventional cameras, they can detect seal contamination with much lower contrast. This ensures more reliable and accurate inspection of non-transparent packaging.
Highlights
Transparant tray package
A conventional vision system features cameras that only detect what the human eye can see. The cameras capture images with three wavelength ranges (RGB).
Non-transparent tray package
HyperPointer® features hyperspectral cameras that capture images with a broad wavelength spectrum. Each pixel is examined separately, allowing for the detection of variations in materials or composition, even when inspecting through printed foil.
