Setting new standards for the food industry
We want the same as most people around the globe. We prefer high quality food produced in a sustainable manner. We want a minimum amount of waste during production, and we demand all the necessary information on clearly visible labels where origin and ingredients are stated for us consumers so that we can make conscious food choices.
So how do we keep all these promises to the consumers (us included) and follow the EU regulations as well as maintain profitability, reduce food waste, and improve quality at the same time?
EU and the Farm to fork strategy
Luckily ensuring food quality and reducing food waste from production all the way to consumer homes is among several important areas that have been addressed in the European Union.
This initiative is part of the Green deal, where all food related strategies are summarized in the ”Farm to fork-strategy” that aims to work for a fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system. Much has been done over the years, but a lot of important work remains to be decided and implemented.
We can all take action to ensure progress in this field by using our vote in the upcoming EU election in June.
TriVision has since the beginning been very clear about the mission to assist the food industry to keep both good profitability, highest quality as well as a reduced amount of waste in their production lines.
Automation is something most food producers already have implemented, but in the process of automating, food producers may encounter potential gaps and opportunities related to product quality and waste. To keep up with retailer demands today, which are driven by consumers’ increasing quality demands and the increasingly stringent laws and regulations, producers must not only automate processing and packaging processes, but also the inspection processes.
This is one area of interest for TriVision - and here is where vision inspection comes in, our robots need eyes.
Case Story: Scan Sverige
Vision system gives extra security and is expected to pay for itself within the first year in production
At Scan Sverige AB in Linköping, a large variety of sausages are produced, including ”falukorv”, chorizo, kabanoss, skinless sausage, hot dogs, and even the classic ”Bullens pilsner sausage”.
Recently, a new vision system from TriVision was installed here to further ensure that the sausage is completely free from foreign particles. We talked to Johan Larsson that works as a production coordinator to discuss the new system.
